Dave Barrett, our first BC NDP Premier, was an outspoken critic of injustice, wherever he saw it. From his time as a social worker in Dewdney through his election as a CCF and NDP MLA, then leading a ground-breaking government and later as a Member of Parliament, Dave Barrett always put people first all the while never hesitating to challenge the powerful and privileged. Throughout his remarkable lifetime he was driven by a sense of both purpose and service, to work hard and fight to make sure peoples’ lives are the best they can be.
